Out of the corner and now it looks like this:
That is an old rose bush on the left side of the picture, it has to go. I will try to dig it out tomorrow, maybe. Getting the grass out of there was enough for today. I wet it down really well to make digging the grass out a little easier. When it dries out, I will use the garden claw and work some peat moss into it and maybe some good garden soil. Once that is done I can head for the nursery for some flowers!
After a shower, some lunch and a little rest I took some pictures of the swap blocks I have been working on:
I mailed out the blocks to Liri and Joanne on Friday but forgot to take pictures before I went to the post office. They look a lot like the ones in these pictures though. So they are on their way!
Friday I also went to Hancock Fabrics, Bernina shop and Joann's Fabrics. My husband was out with a friend for the afternoon so I had some fun, too. I got the rest of the fabrics for "Two Piece Puzzle" that was in the April issue of APQ. I can't wait to get started on that! Still need to wash all the fabrics before I start cutting. I have also been working on the other red, cream and blue quilt with the paper pieced flower shapes on it. I will have the top stitched together in a day or two, then I will have a project to hand quilt in the evenings. Plus I have a couple other projects to work on, too. With lots of stuff to keep my hands busy, maybe I can try to loose a few pounds before the trip for my nephews June wedding. My step daughter has set July 8 for her wedding so I will have a quilt to work on for her, too. There is always something!
Oooooo, almost forgot, I've been wanting this book for quite a while and I found it at Joanns AND I had a 50% off coupon so got it half price! ! !
Now I know what I can do with all the little scraps I have saved! There are some really cute potholders in here.
I did a load of laundry this morning so I have to get that put away and the clean sheets back on the bed. Once that is done, I hope I can sew a little.
Just seeing that wheelbarrow of grass makes me tired! You'll have to show pictures once you get the new garden spot planted. The swap blocks look great - I love the red stripe for the borders.
ReplyDeleteFantastic swap blocks! It's almost time to draw the next winners. You have certainly been busy and getting lots of good things done. I'm inspired! Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteMarsha, love the swap blocks, specially the one with the red stripey border. Will you share some of the patterns from your new book? They look like fun! Hey, maybe after our block swap is done, we could do a potholder swap? The most recent Quilts & More has a pattern for an oven mit.
