I am just enjoying this BOM too much, these little snowmen are sooooooo much fun to make.
Next, the wedding quilt:
It is called Winter Cottages and is about 50 inches square. It can be a throw or I put a hanging sleeve on the back in case they want to hang it up. I used white fleece to make the snow on the roof tops and used different colors for the doors, one red, blue and green in each row. I stitched the hearts above the doors to match the color of the door. Here is a close up of one cabin and tree:
The trees and little birds were fun to make. To make it interesting I placed the birds in different positions in the trees in each row. I hope they like it.
DH is home, truck and ATV are washed down, all his "stuff" is washed and almost all put away. He and his friend may try again in a couple of weeks in a different area. I'm glad he came home Thursday night, it rained where he had been camping and everything would have been a muddy mess if he hadn't come home early.
Enjoy your weekend, hope everyone gets to sew alot!
Oh I love your snowman!! They're so fun. Are you going to use the quilt layout provided for your finished blocks? The wedding quilt is really stunning as well! Is it hand or machine quilted? I'm sure it will be treasured :) Christine
ReplyDeleteYes! Your snowman is adorable! The wedding quilt is stunning.Your work is fabulous Marsha. Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteI did hand quilt this one. I used the blue painters tape to help get the straight lines. It worked very well and I will use it again. I did a buttonhole stitch around the hearts, trees and birds. The colors didn't show as well as I hoped, the lighting wasn't that good. The checkerboard border is blue, red, dark green and brown with the cream fabric.
ReplyDeleteI plan to use the layout provided for the rest of the snowman quilt. I have it cut out but have not done any sewing on it yet. I can't wait for May 5th to see the next snowman!
OH, Thanks for the nice comments, I do appreciate all the wonderful feed back from my blog buddies! ! ! It makes me feel good!
ReplyDeleteLuv them both! The quilting on your Winter Cottages is wonderful! I love the crosshatching in the background, and your blanket stitches are great! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteThe snowman and finished wedding quilt are both really wonderful, but it seems you have a winter theme and all I want is SPRING! I hope the wedding quilt is well loved - if not, give them a kick in the behind for me - I'd love to have something that great for a gift!
ReplyDeleteHere are more nice comments :) I love your work. The snowman is just too cute, and the wedding quilt is beautiful. I'm sure it will be appreciated. -Joanne
ReplyDeleteAdorable little sowman. They really are cute. The wedding quilt is really beautiful. Your quilting is so perfect. They will love and treasure your gift.
ReplyDeleteGlad the hubby is home safe and sound.
Happy stitching.
Wow, Marsha! What a wonderful wedding gift. I hope they decide to hang it for all to see. I remember when you had to buy more fabric because the roof directions were so bad. An absolutely beautiful job! I admire your patience for hand quilting--my walking foot is practically attached to me. The fleece for snow was your own idea then?
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of fleece--are your snowmen fleece too? You girls are making me jealous. I keep downloading the directions, but my evening project is a pretty intense cross-stitch. One more cute snowman and I may convince myself that I need a break.
Glad your hubby came home early and you didn't end up sharing another cold. Mary
Love the little house quilt;) I am sure they will too;)
ReplyDeleteAnd the snowman....too cute;)
We went up to Fenton this past week (80 degrees during the day, and then snowed on us that night...that's New Mexico for ya), and ran across someone that had been out turkey hunting with no luck. Must be something in the air;)
Happy Quilting!!
