Exciting news, baby Henry arrived, weighing 9 pounds and he's 21 inches long. Mom and baby are doing fine. Here's his first picture:
And here is the quilt I made for him:
The patterns is a Brenda Riddle Design, Remember Whooo Loves You, from the Acorn Quilt & Gift Company. It measures about 46 inches X 58 inches. I love the fabric I found for the borders, those little owls are so cute. I did make a couple of changes to the pattern. I added that narrow dark blue border and the nine patches in the corners. I felt it needed the dark blue to set off the center design and I wanted something easy to quilt in the corners. I always find it tricky to quilt around the corner!
The only thing I need to do is add a label and it is ready to give to him.
I have been busy with some other projects, too. Here is Christmas 101 by Jan Patek.
I finished the flimsy but the quilting will have to wait a bit. I'm planning to have it done for next Christmas. Everything but the two border fabrics came from stash. I ordered the border fabrics from the Fat Quarter Shop with a gift certificate I received from my oldest daughter for Christmas. I love that gorgeous red floral fabric. This was so much fun to stitch. I love hand work and the fusible applique with a blanket stitch around it kept me busy stitching through the holidays.
The next project I have just started. My nephew is getting married this summer and I found a quilt pattern to use for their gift. I cut out the fabric for the 120 churn dash pieced blocks and am working on getting them put together. That is going to take a while! Here is what I have so far:
The light blue will be the alternating blocks and the darker blue will be the binding. With luck, I will have it finished for their wedding!
It has been a good start to the new year. I have kept busy sewing, following blogs and checking out all the new BOM's that are starting this year. I have not committed to actually making any of the BOM's but I will collect some of the patterns for later. There are some new buttons in the right side bar.
I am back to sewing and we are going out to dinner with some friends tonight.
Happy sewing!
Good to see you are already getting ready for next Christmas! Baby Henry is a real cutie, and so is his little quilt! Those other fabrics and plans are going to be great too. Do have fun with them! ---"Love"
