Yes, I'm still here . . .

I haven't done any quilting in the last two weeks.  We spent a few days with brothers & sisters-in-law in Arkansas, a few days with my sister and her husband in Missouri and went to my nephews wedding, then to Illinois to see my parents, then home to NM.  Arkansas was hot and humid with a little rain but we had lots of fun.  Missouri was hot the first day then it cooled off but stayed humid.  We had some rain and storms there, too.  A funnel cloud went right over the RV park we were camping at but didn't touch down.  Lucky for us!  We woke up about 3:00 am to a few minutes of heavy rain and the wind shook our trailer pretty good a couple of times, then it was gone.  We actually found out about the funnel cloud the next day at the wedding.  Just thought we had some wind gusts during the night.  We had really nice weather in Illinois.  On the way home we drove in heavy rain from just west of St. Louis for over 100 miles without it letting up.  Visibility was less than a tenth of a mile a lot of the time.  We made it home safe and have been catching up on cleaning and getting things put away.

The wedding was very nice and we had fun with lots of family there.  I haven't heard any comments on the quilt yet but it's only been a week since the wedding.  I'll hear from them once they get settled.  The bride's mother owns a quilt shop and she had made a wedding ring quilt that everyone was asked to sign as they entered the church for the ceremony.  It will be a great remembrance!

I did take a couple of my quilts and some blocks that I have made to show off to my family.  My mom really liked what I had finished.  That made me feel really good.

I am very happy to be back home and out of the high humidity of the Midwest.  It was in the 80 and 90% range there, here it has been as low as 5% since we got back.  That is a HUGE difference.  My little flower garden and my veggies are growing nicely.  Now, I can't wait to get back to doing some sewing! ! !

  1. I'm so glad that funnel cloud decided to pass you by! Nasty weather here passed consistently to the south of us while my mother was visiting last week. I'm glad you're home safe. Enjoy settling back in. -Joanne

  2. A little scary with that funnel cloud - maybe better you didn't know until after since it didn't touch down. (Tornados scare me because there's nothing you can do about them.) I'm glad you made it home safely and had a good trip. Right about now I'd love some of that 5% humidity...

  3. Boy, you were very near a lot of that long line of awful weather and destruction, weren't you? I'm so glad you escaped without harm, and had a good trip in spite of the weather. I guess returning home from such a trip is similar to jet lag after a long airline trip. But you will get adjusted to your climate and schedule before long. ---"Love"

  4. Ohhh so glad that the funnel glad passed over you without touching down! The line of tornados that did touch down in Illinois did so in my Mom's hometown of Dwight. I have aunts, uncles and cousins in both Streator and Dwight. As far as I know everyone is fine.
Sounds like the wedding and your visits with family went well. Guess you don't miss midwest weather hu?? That humidity is just aweful.
Anyway, glad you are home safe and getting settled back in. What is next for you?

  6. Welcome home! I know about humidity. Here on the East Coast, humidity goes up and down alot and can make a normally fine day miserable. Lucky you with only 5% in NM. Keep on quilting!

  7. That's a lot of rain Marsha but I am grateful you had a safe trip. Delighted that the wedding was such a success - I'm sure you'll receive some feedback about the quilt soon. Cheers, Ann :-)
