Happy First Day of Spring!

Here is what we woke up to this morning in Albuquerque, first day of Spring!

Yep, that's about two inches of snow.  My daffodils were really pretty yesterday but today they are a little droopy!  These were taken in color, you can see the yellow of the flowers, but it is so gloomy outside that it looks like black and white.  It should melt later today and by Monday temps are suppose to be back into the 50's and 60's.

I've been making good progress on the wedding quilt.  It has three rows of cabins and trees and I have almost finished the outline stitching in two rows.  Once the outline is done, I will go back and cross-hatch the space between the cabins.  I wanted to get the oulining done before starting to fill in the space in between.  It is going pretty fast.    Each row has three cabins and one tree in it but they are spaced differently.  One has three cabins and a tree; one has one cabin, a tree, and two more cabins; one has two cabins, a tree and one more cabin.  I think it will be kind of cute.

Well, enjoy Spring and I hope you get to quilt all day!

  1. So-----where you live is where our cold, wet day came from, here in Texas! Shame on you! Yesterday was 70+ degrees, and now at 2 PM it is just 34, and everything is wet from the rain all night! Some snow is predicted maybe.
Can't wait to see pictures of your wedding quilt; it sounds really cute.
Think I'll go see if I can quilt some too! ---"Love"

  2. The photos were taken around 9:00 am. It is now 1:00 pm. The sun is out bright, snow is all gone and my daffodils are standing up straight and as pretty as they were yesterday!

  3. I thought we were the only ones getting snow on the first day of spring, but I guess I was wrong. Up here, it's not so unexpected, but last week it was in the 60s all week, so this is not appreciated Mrs. Mother Nature! I look forward to seeing the wedding quilt.

  4. Mother Nature did that to us here as well. All our snow finally melted, with lovely highs in the 60's and my kids out playing in shorts earlier this week. Yesterday we got another 2 inches. I guess snow is still likely at this time, but just the same we were not amused. It was very pretty this morning, and if it had been November we would have been happy and excited about it! Now bring on the daffodils!

  7. If it's any consolation we are sweltering in autumn heat of 35 degC (95F). Perhaps we could meet halfway? This must surely be the end of your cold weather. I certainly hope so. I am looking forward to seeing the wedding quilt - it sounds wonderful! Cheers, Ann :-)
