Life has been busy and I have been finishing a lot of projects.
First up, a Halloween table runner is done.
Next, two more I Spy quilts, one for my two GD in Colorado and one for my two GS in Montana. They will have to share and play together with the quilts.
Unicorns for the girls.
Close up.
Emergency vehicles and trucks for the boys.
Close up. My DSIL was a firefighter and EMT, so the border fabric is a nod to Dad.
Hope they all enjoy and have fun with their new play quilts. These two are also backed with fleece and machine quilted with a serpentine stitch on my sewing machine.
Here is one of the free BOM's I participated in last year. It is from Buttermilk Basin and called "Buttermilk Homestead". I love the primitive look so much. The pattern called for a plain outside border but with all I went through last year with the cancer treatment, I stopped with the appliqued border. With all the quilting it is a little wavy along the edges but that's OK with me. It is finished and I can enjoy looking at it up on the wall.
Now I am almost finished with the second free BOM I worked on last year. It is "Gnome for the Holidays" by Fat Cat Patterns. This one is bigger than the other one, so taking a little longer to finish. I have one more side border to quilt, then bind.
It is pretty cute, too. I have a thing for Christmas, Halloween and Fall themed quilts. After this one is finished, I hope to work on some smaller projects before starting another big quilt. But, I do have a pattern from a magazine I got a few months ago that I keep thinking about. It is a big quilt, so we will see how long I can ignore the urge to start it.
One more fun thing to look forward to:
I bought this little kit at a quilt and sewing show put on by The Rusty Barn a couple weeks ago. I have seen the kit at the show in past years and resisted buying it but this year gave in. It is a tiny quilt, about 10 X 12 inches with snowman and snowflake buttons sewn into the little snowball blocks. It is adorable and looks like fun. I'll let you know how it goes working on those tiny little blocks!
In other news, we had a visit from DH daughter and grandsons, ages 2 and 5. That was a busy week with two little guys in the house. They wore us out but we had so much fun!
I also went in for a three month follow up mammogram and it is normal, no sign of cancer at all. That was such good news. Now there will be more follow ups at six month intervals for a couple years, then back to yearly after that. Praying each future one also is normal!
That about catches things up. I'll try to post more frequently from now on, time just flies by!
Goodness! You have been very busy! No wonder you haven't been blogging. Every one of those quilts are beautiful, and will be much loved no doubt. Glad your mammo report was good. Just keep on quilting and check in with us when you can. Always good to hear from you and see what you've been doing. ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of great quilts! The Halloween ladies are really neat and I'm sure the kids will have loads of fun with all the novelty fabrics in the I Spy quilts. The applique quilt is beautiful and who cares if it lays flat?! I'm glad to hear your checkup went well and hope they continue to come up clean. In the meantime, keep quilting and enjoy the littles!
ReplyDeleteI like those ladies in your Halloween quilt. And love the Buttermilk Basin piece. I am thinking of doing a wall hanging from some Nuttermilk Basin patterns.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great result on your checkup. Sending loads of of positive vibes for many more just like it. I love all your projects - you are the Queen of BOMs! The kidlets will adore their I Spy quilts I'm sure and your Halloween runner is deloghtful. What chic ladies.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear from you again - with such a great post full of projects! The queen of ween table runner is so cute! I love having holiday decor and haven't had much for halloween, but I just got a really cute pumpkin wall hanging pattern, so maybe I can get it done this year. Your I spy quilts are adorable! They will be so much fun for the little ones. I have made quite a few of them and still have bunches of I Spy fabrics in a bin. In fact, I have used the hippo fabric in one or more of my I spy quilts. I love your Buttermilk Basin quilt! I have made a few of her free patterns (minis) and hang them in the appropriate season. Great news on the health front too!! Wonderful to hear that and hope it will continue.

I do understand how time flies! I've been mostly absent from blogland this year. You however, have made good use of your time away from the computer! Your quilts,as always, are lovely. I'm sure the grandkids will enjoy the I Spy quilts, and you will enjoy your Halloween runner come fall!
