You can click on the picture to get a closer look. This was a free mystery quilt from Jeni's Blog from the Willow and the pattern templates are still avaliable at Woolen Willow Designs.
The instructions are on Jeni's blog, just type A Life of Plenty into the search box and it will bring up the individual posts. I think this mystery sew along started in 2014 and finished in March of 2015.
Now I am quilting another project that has taken a while. In past posts I showed the A Tisket A Tasket blocks as I finished them. I now have the flimsy together and the quilting has begun. This is a Bunny Hill Designs pattern that was free on Ann Suttons' Bunny Tales blog in 2009 I think. It is no longer free, but the pattern is available on the website.
I have one block quilted and another started. So far I have just stitched around the applique and around the block edges, stitch in the ditch. I haven't decided if I will add more quilting to the backgrounds or just leave them. It is enough quilting to secure the block, but it looks a bit plain. I may do some cross hatching in the backgrounds. I will wait until I have a few blocks done and decide. I just started it and I am anxious to have it finished so I can start something new.
Life has been quiet since the holidays and that's the way I like it. We did see the new Star Wars movie, at the theater instead of waiting until it comes out on Netflix. Both DH and I enjoyed it very much.
Now to go watch some football and do some stitching!
That's a terrific quilt to have as a first finish. I never did finish the Bunny Hill blocks - I think I made four.
ReplyDeleteYour first quilt truly is plenty full of different piecing and quilting techniques; it is beautiful! The second one will be adorable too. I watched some of those blocks, but never tried them. Enjoy the quilting, and stay focused. Time's flying by, and you really need to start another quilt! *giggle* ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful first finish of the year! And I'm looking forward to seeing the Bunny Hill quilt finished. Isn't it great to finish stuff...so you can start new stuff?
ReplyDeleteGood to see your blocks all put together. I made quite a few of the blocks from the free mystery patterns but the project got set to the side and I have not gone back to it. I need to find it in the sewing room and make some progress on it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first finish! It is adorable!!
