I feel like I accomplished quite a bit this weekend. First of all, I finished up Block 6 of Henrietta Whiskers:
Then I stitched all six block together:
I can hardly wait to see what the last three blocks will look like! I have to wait until the 5th of July for the next block though.
Next, I started piecing another quilt top that I had cut out earlier. It is from the book "Fresh Off the Farm" by Kelly Mueller. It is the one I won along with a bundle of fat quarters of her Fresh Off the Farm fabric line a while back. It is in four different sections at the moment. It has some really cute farm animals to applique. So far I have all the pieces drawn onto the Heat n Bond but have not started cutting them out yet. I probably will not work on it again until after we get back from our trip to visit the new grand baby.
And finally, I made a cushion for my sewing chair. Since I got my new machine, my chair is a bit low, I needed a booster chair! A few weeks ago my DH decided to get a foam mattress to put in the truck bed for when he goes hunting. We had to cut a section out of each side for the wheel wells in the truck. That left me with two sections of the 7" foam to play with. Well, today I measured my chair seat and designed a cushion. No pictures yet, I still want to make a pretty cover for it. When the foam compresses when I sit down it boosts me up to where I can look down on the needle a bit instead of being even with it. I think it is going to work, at least I hope so. I'll let you know when I've had a chance to sit on it for a while.
I'm still working on hand quilting my winter quilt. It is over half way finished! Yay, cause I've got more hand quilting coming soon.
That's been my weekend, along with a couple of loads of laundry, a little shopping, and watering my flowers and tomatoes.
Now, I think it is time to relax a bit!

Ok . . . Quilty Pictures and Baby Mason has arrived
Yesterday I promised I'd post some quilty pictures, so here goes:
The tumbler quilt:
It is roughly 24" X 33" and each tumbler is a different fabric. I used charm squares to make it. Some of them I won on a shop hop a couple of years ago, others were from a swap with Tara Darr of Sew Unique Creations. I stitched the tumblers together by hand then machine stitched the rows together and machine quilted it. I was so anxious to see it all finished! I really like how it turned out and may make another one some day.
Next, here are the first five blocks for the Henrietta Whiskers BOM from Bunny Hill:
Block 1
Block 2
Block 3
Block 4
And Block 5
These are so much fun and I think it will be a great fall quilt when it is finished! The colors are a little washed out in the photos, most are deeper colors than they look.
And, Baby Mason is here! He arrived a week ago weighing in at 11 lbs. 2 ozs. Mom and baby are doing well and the family is adjusting to life with a newborn and a 2 year old. We are headed up to visit them in a couple of weeks. He may be ready to start school by then! What a big little guy.
We splurged and went out to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie this afternoon. It was a fun movie and we liked the previews of a couple more movies coming out later this summer. We usually wait to see movies at the $1 theatre but we used a discount and treated ourselves.
Happy Quilting!

Some pictures
Not of quilts, though. There have been wildfires burning in southeastern Arizona for the last week or so and some in southwest New Mexico. We are over 200 miles from the fires but with the strong southwest winds we have been getting smoke blowing into Albuquerque for the last several nights. It clears out during the day and blows back in at night. Here is a picture my husband took this evening about 6:30 pm Mountain time.
This is looking West at the sun through the trees in the back yard. The wind was blowing pretty strong and all we could see was an orange ball.
Next, looking East:
This is the view above the roof of our neighbor's house across the street. You can just barely make out the outline of the Sandia Mountains. Usually we can see the tiny shapes of trees and rocks up there.
And finally:
This is from the web cams looking over the city. That haze is all smoke and ash floating in the air. Outside it smells like a campfire, a big one! We could use some good rain out here but that is not in the forecast. We have not had any significant rain in the Metro area yet this year. Everything in the state is so dry. We are almost always under Fire Weather Watches and a lightning strike, a tossed cigarette or a hot exhaust pipe from a vehicle parking in the grass is enough to start a fire. I wish we could transport the excess water in the areas that are experiencing floods out west.
We are doing fine as long as we stay inside and keep the windows closed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Arizona fire crosses the New Mexico state line if the winds keep up tonight. I feel so bad for all the people who have to evacuate their homes that are in the path of the fires. My prayers go out for them.
On the quilty front, I need to take pictures of my first five Henrietta Whiskers blocks, the pattern for the sixth one just came out yesterday. I finished up a small tumbler quilt that I need to show off, too. Maybe tomorrow I can get some good pictures of those. I have been hand quilting the Jan Patek Snowbound quilt, it is almost half way along. I am loving it and am anxious to get it finished up.
Have a relaxing evening!
