I have to admit being home all the time except to go to the grocery store isn't that bad for me, at least not yet. Being retired, I am home a lot anyway so now I have more time to play with fabric and sew. I do miss lunches out and visiting with friends, but it is for good reason. I don't want to get sick and I certainly don't want to spread anything I may come in contact with. DH and I are in pretty good health now, we are blessed by that. We do have several friends who have breathing issues, compromised immune systems or are much older than we are, don't want them to get sick. We are trying to find positive things to think about and do instead of worrying about things out of out control.
Since I've had even more time to sew, here is what I have been working on.
Santa and the reindeer finally have eyes. I remembered I have some really tiny buttons so I used them for these guys. I did have to use a thin beading needle to sew them on. A regular sewing needle was too big to fit through the holes in the buttons. So finally finished and ready for Christmas 2020 decorating!
I've had this panel for years so I dug it out and made another quilt for GD due in May.
This is a really cute panel. I also have the backing fabric, the same as the borders so I just layered them and hand stitched around the different parts of the picture. It is nothing fancy but will make a nice light quilt for nap time and dragging around in the car.
Here are the next two Tabletop Turnabouts by Jan Patek. This one is Bunny Hop.
And To Market
Sorry these little baskets are a bit blurry but they do make me think of Spring. I am enjoying working on the projects from the book. Four done, six more to go. In fact, I just pressed the designs for the next two into place this morning.
I am working on several things at a time right now and don't want to run out of projects to do. These are ready to start blanket stitching around the shapes. There are five panels in each set, one large and four small, so I will be busy for a while.
The last project is twelve mug rugs for my Bunco ladies. We get together once a month to play, eat and chat. I want to surprise them with little gifts at our Christmas get together.
Here is what I have so far. The little snowmen are all the same design but each one has different color hats and scarves. I love this little snowman pattern, so used it again. The fabric on the right side of the applique is so cute. I found it at Bird Brain Designs website. If you enlarge the photo I hope you can see all the Christmas sayings printed on the fabric. The mug rugs will be about 7 inches X 11 inches. Big enough to hold a beverage and some cookies or a snack plate. I am in the process of layering each one and quilting around the snowman applique. These will also keep me busy stitching for a while. Can't run out of things to sew, I might have to resort to cleaning the house if I don't have anything to sew!
Hope everyone is healthy and busy. Each day that passes is one day closer to the end of the social distancing and having no more cases of illness in the news.
Stay busy and find some fun things to do!
