Finished projects include this Christmas quilt. A few months ago I won this pattern from Podunk Pretties. It was so much fun to make. I love the red truck.
I only bought the green background fabric and the red binding and border fabric around the truck panel. Everything else came from the stash. I will hang it on one of my quilt racks soon to decorate for Christmas.
The next projects were these two quilts for Project Linus. I won a layer cake years ago on a giveaway but the fabrics are more modern and I just don't use this type of fabric in my quilts. It has set in my cabinet for probably ten years and it was time to use it. I found the free pattern online and thought it would work. I was able to get two quilts out of one layer cake plus cutting four extra squares from another fabric I was given years ago.
Next, we had a trip up to Colorado for my youngest grand daughter's 1st birthday party. I have had a piece of pre-quilted fabric I bought almost five years ago to make a bag for another trip. I used the left over piece to make this small weekend bag for the Colorado trip and it was perfect for the trip.
I had everything I needed to make it, bag fabric, handle fabric, interfacing and zipper! I kind of skated by the seat of my pants to design my own pattern, but it turned out nice and it works for what I needed.
For my GD's birthday gift, I always give the girls a doll. This time I also made a little dolly quilt to go with it.
This was a free pattern I found online and it was exactly what I was imagining for the quilt. Some of these fabrics were left over from her baby quilt and others were in the stash. It is so cute with the sweet little bunnies.
Another Christmas project. Each December our Bunco group has a Christmas exchange and party. As we arrive at the party the gifts are all numbered and later we each draw a number from the hat. We go in order to choose a gift, the next person in line can choose another gift or steal from someone who has already opened their gift. It is lots of fun, even though I always hate to steal from someone else. As part of the gift I am taking this year, I made this little table runner. I like it so much I almost want to keep it for myself! I hope who ever takes it home likes it just as much.
This is from a free pattern I found at the American Patchwork and Quilting web site. It is suppose to have five circles down each end in the black strip, I planned to put yo-yo's on it instead but I like it without the extra decoration. The door knobs are tiny buttons.
And one more Christmas project. I made one of these table runners for our Bunco gift exchange several years ago and the lady who won it loved it. One of the other members also wanted it so she "stole" it when it was her turn. I had time this year so made the first lady her own. She loves it even more than the first one she almost got to take home.
Close up of one end . . .
and the other end.
I just ordered more snow flake fabric to make one for each of our kids for Christmas 2020. I still want to make one for me!
I am in an online Secret Santa exchange this year and made a cute little snowman quilt for my partner. It is very small about 7" X 8" but I evidently forgot to take a picture before I mailed it. I hope I can grab a copy of it once everyone posts their gifts in our group site. I used the same snowman pattern to make a pillow for my DDIL for Christmas but didn't take a picture of it either!
I will have her send a photo once she gets it.
(Revised, here is a picture of the pillow I made for DDIL)
I am busy now with a Christmas applique project of Santa and his reindeers on another wall hanging/table runner. I got it all prepped thinking I would have it when DH goes in for hip replacement surgery next week but I started it and just have Santa to applique now. All the reindeer are done. The surgery is more stressful for me than him. He is anxious to get it done. Having stitching to do helps me stay calm.
And biggest news is I have another baby quilt to make. My youngest daughter just announced they are expecting a baby girl in May. I have prepped the applique and cut the background blocks for another Sunbonnet Sue quilt for her. I will prep each block as I go but all the little pieces are fused to their fabrics, cut out and stored in zip lock bags. I will get a couple fused to the background fabric to take to the hospital to work on while I wait during DH surgery.
I am happy with the finishes I have and the use of fabric I already had on hand. I used patterns I already had, too. Can't wait to see what comes next! Hope everyone is doing well, had a Happy Thanksgiving and is working on your Christmas projects. It will be here before we know it!
