Since I first saw this pattern several years ago, I have wanted to make it. I'm thrilled with the way it turned out, so cute! It is mostly made with fabric and batting from my stash, too. The only part I had to buy was the backing.
I found this cute flannel with little whales on it. I thought it went well with the sailboat theme. This was a free pattern from Simply Sew Cute at www.cutequiltpatterns.com but I don't see it on the website any longer.
I have been working on the Gnomes Christmas quilt:
Block 1 is all finished, I showed it in my last blog entry but I didn't have the stitching around the trees and gnomes done then.
Here is Block 2 all finished, too. The blocks are released on the first of the month on the Fat Cat Pattern site. There is a link to it in the sidebar of my blog. I am anxiously awaiting the April 1st block. I need some hand work to do in the evenings while I watch TV.
Since I finished the baby quilt and have extra time on my hands, I decided to get started on the BOM by Buttermilk Basin. It is more applique to keep me busy! These blocks are released on the first of each month, too. I have been saving the patterns and decided to just get started.
Here is block 1. I love the flag and crow in this block. The flowers were fun, too.
Block 2, I love salt box style houses on quilts.
Block 3, I also love baskets! There is also a link to Buttermilk Basin in my sidebar.
On Fat Tuesday one of my favorite quilt shops had a sale with fat quarters priced at $2.00 each, so I had to add a few to the stash.
Looks like I am favoring fall colors!
In the January/February '18 issue of Quiltmaker I found another pattern that I just have to make.
There has been lots of cutting, stitching, trimming and sewing some more.
The pattern is called Grandma's Spools and is found on page 63 of the magazine. I have all but the final border put together. A lot of this one came from stash, too. (Yea!) Now I just have to find the right shade of red for the final border. I tried a shade of blue, but it is calling for something red! Guess I will have to visit the quilt shop!
I showed the start of a mystery quilt with the Small Quilt Group in my last post. The next clue has been released, but I'm not sure of how I want to proceed with it yet. I will wait for another clue or two before I pick fabrics for the next step.
And there is a Garden Mystery Block Blog Hop going on, too. Click the link to see what it is about. This is another applique project with some really cute designs. So far I am saving the patterns but haven't started it yet. Seven blocks have been released with six more to come. The final instructions for this will be given near the end of April. I am very tempted to work on this one, too. If I do, that will give me a bunch of quilts to put together later in the year, I guess I am creating some UFO's! ! ! We will see how many more I decide to work on.
You can click on any of the photos to get a closer look if you like.
I am enjoying seeing what everyone else is working on and you are all creating some beautiful quilts. Have fun!
