I thought October went fast but November is speeding by, too! That's partly because we took a trip to Florida to visit my DH's youngest daughter. We delivered the old desk to her and had a nice time visiting. We visited Destin beach and had lunch at a nice little restaurant right on the beach, went to a Munitions museum near Eglin Air Force Base and to the Navy Aviation Museum in Pensacola. We ate lots of good seafood, too. We had a great time.
I took my new sewing machine to the shop for it's one year check up and cleaning, they estimated it would take two and a half weeks, so I figured if I took it in before vacation I wouldn't miss it too much. Well, it has been a month and it is still there. I am expecting a call to pick it up anytime, but I am missing it. I have three new projects all cut out and waiting for it's return!
I had Henrietta to work on while the machine has been gone, but I finished her last night. Her she is:
It is 48 X 54 inches and fits nicely on the new rod in the entrance way by the front door. I hand quilted this one, too. Still gotta get busy and practice free motion quilting.
Well, I thought it was just going to be my DH and me for Thanksgiving and we were planning to go out to a restaurant for our dinner but . . . my son, his girlfriend and two dogs are driving down Thursday. So I will be cooking after all. The turkey is thawing in the fridge and everything else is planned and shopped for. Would you believe I am 61 and have never cooked a turkey in my life? This will be a whole new experience! In the past we always went to someones home for holidays so I didn't have to cook everything. Guess I have finally grown up! ! ! So I have been cleaning house a little and getting ready for them. It will be the first time to meet the newest "grand dog" and will be interesting having two large dogs around. We will be dog sitting for them at Christmas time, so it will be good practice.
Gotta go start tonight's dinner. I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Marsha
PS: At 5:50 pm they called from the sewing machine store to let me know my machine is ready. The shop closed at 6:00 so I will get it first thing tomorrow morning! Yea, I can get back to sewing! ! !
