I read my favorite blogs everyday, sometimes I leave comments but I see I haven't written anything for a month! Where does the time go?
I have been busy with lots of "stuff" this month. The yard and garden have been cleaned up for winter. The upside-down tomato and strawberry containers have been emptied and tossed. I won't be buying any more of those. I planted the strawberries in a kids wading pool filled with soil. I'm anxious to see how the plants do over the winter and if they will grow and produce more next year. We will see! My flower beds have been cleaned up a bit and in a couple of weeks I will cut back what is still there for the winter. We trimmed the juniper's along the street, that filled a whole trash container. The leaves should all be off the hedge in a couple of weeks so those will be cleaned up then.
I have been hand quilting Henrietta Whiskers, all I have left is the outside border. I have a stencil to use for that but I have to find something to mark the design on the fabric. I have a couple chalk pencils I will try and see how they work. If they don't work, I'm thinking about trying one of the pounce chalk markers. How do you mark fabric for quilting?
I just finished another little quilt project. I joined a small quilt online group a while back. The challenge was to make a quilt using a four patch block made of 2" squares and this is what I did:
It started out to be a red and white quilt but I decided to use a little black in there, too. The black sets off the little blocks nicely. This quilt measures about 17" square and is hand quilted. I also joined in on a small quilt swap and am trying to decide what to make my partner for that. I have until December to finish it.
When I read blogs sometimes I find other blogs to check out. This morning when I was reading Jo's Country Junction I jumped to another blog she mentioned. Check out what I found here . Do your recognize the block pattern? It is a beautiful quilt and as I was looking at it, something looked familiar. It's the block we used for our signature quilts, isn't it! I plan to get busy and finish up my swap quilt in the next few months.
This isn't a very good picture but I bought an inexpensive curtain rod and put it up in my front entryway. The quilt is the Halloween one from last summers shop hop here. I wanted some way to hang quilts that would be easy and fast to change. I think this will work great.
I thought I had more of the rod in the picture but I hope this gets the idea across! My picture taking skills need a lot of practice.
Happy Halloween! I hope everyone is enjoying the fall, winter will be here soon.
